iPhone Apps I Love

I recently downloaded the Whole Foods app for the iPhone.  It is AMAZING!  Allows you to search for recipes, mark them as favorites, and add all the ingredients from the recipe onto your shopping list.  I like that!  Also, there's an area that allows you to put the ingredients you have at home and then it generates the recipe for you.  I HIGHLY recommend it.

I also am addicted to BubbleXplode.  I've spent cross country flights playing this game - am OBSESSED.

The GroupOn/LivingSocial apps make my life easier too.  Now I don't have to print them out, I can truly take advantage of them last minute easily from my phone.

The nook app syncs with my actual nook.  So I can read on my nook, mark my page, and then pick up on my iPhone.  SO EASY!

Obviously, like everyone else the Words with Friends, Facebook, Delta, etc apps are awesome too.

What did I do before my iPhone and the world of apps!

Three Years....

If you ask a new mom, three years is a long time as a baby morphs into a toddler.  If you ask the owner of a new DVD player, three years marks the end of a warranty.  To some, it's a quick period of time.

I've spent the last three years of my life with my true soul mate.  The three years haven't always been easy, but they've been worth it to get to where are today and where we're going.  I'll share my top 3 favorite memories of the past 3 years:

3.  Our no-shower Saturdays or whenever we can find time to have a movie marathon with our PJs and cook a yummy meal.

2.  Our honeymoon.  Beach, jacuzzi on the balcony, no cell phone signal, "drinks of the day," mamajuanas, and Federrer won Wimbeldon - everyone's happy.

1.  Our three year anniversary trip.  Being in a remote location with no cell phone signal and still realizing that we have so much to talk about and rarely get bored with each other makes me smile.

G$, I know that we have a lifetime of fun in front of us.  Thank you for loving me.

N's Project 365: Week 12

The movers are currently packing up my house, and I feel super guilty about just sitting here while they do everything. So I'm posting this now in an effort to look "busy."

June 19, 2011: A blurry shot of Body Pump class.

June 20, 2011: I was lying in bed and realized I hadn't taken a photo that day. I couldn't bother with finding anything more interesting than my ceiling fan.

June 21, 2011: You can't really tell in this shot, but the whole sky was hazy with smoke from wildfires on the coast.

June 22, 2011: My everyday essentials which were allowed to stay on the countertop instead of being hidden in drawers.

June 23, 2011: Two koozies (not cozies) that I found while cleaning out my desk at work. No idea where they came from.

June 24, 2011: My last drive into work at GSK.

June 25, 2011: Manicure experiment of the week. Between that and my purple dress, I ended up looking like Violet in Willy Wonka for my going away dinner that night.

Things I Love - For the Home

I've loved decorating for as long as I can remember.  I've always wanted to be able to paint my walls various colors and hang things on them. Unfortunately, my parents didn't like holes in the wall and my landlords didn't care for paint.

When G$ and I moved into our Condo o' Love, we had the opportunity to truly redo the entire place - which was SO awesome...except of course, it had to be a compromise of boy tastes meets girl tastes.  Luckily for him, I like modern decor and that made it easier to find things he could live with.

Here are some things I love:

I'm starting to love gray and yellow together, especially for a bedroom

I love the three mirrors.  This would be perfect in a guest bath over a pedestal sink.

I LOVE islands in the kitchen. My family and I spend most of our time around our's. I especially love the shelves at the end of this island.

I want to spend a warm afternoon here with a magazine and a cold class of sauv blanc.

Organized areas make me very happy.

N's Project 365: Week 11

June 12, 2011: Easing into the new french manicure.

June 13, 2011: Coconut-topped olive oil brownie bites.

June 14, 2011: What a lovely sight to come home to!
June 15, 2011: Uh oh.

June 16, 2011: This is my coffee mug. It is my friend, and it sits on a coaster that Ree painted for me years ago.

June 17, 2011: I know this is just a photo of a wall. The thing is, this wall was all scuffed up before I repainted it. Anyone who knows my lack of abilities will recognize that such a minor task is actually kind of a big deal.

June 18, 2011: I heart Midtown Olive Press.

N's Project 365: Week 10

June 5, 2011: The bubble gum wall in Pike Place Market. Simultaneously gross and pretty.

June 6, 2011: I chose my realtor because she makes pretty fliers with QR codes on them.

June 7, 2011: Why would I lie about being unmarried? It's official now because it's notarized.

June 8, 2011: I had to stop by this FedEx and remembered that the last time I was there was during a date last year. Guys, making a lady wait around while you get stuff printed for work is not the best way to impress her the first (and in this case, only) time you meet.

June 9, 2011: The sparkly bracelet I got for R, Ree, and I from NYC a few months ago.

June 10, 2011: Oops.

June 11, 2011: Mimosas in sippy cups are very classy.

Why I'm Excited for N to be in the Bay Area

When I tell people that N is moving to the Bay Area, they respond with "OMG - that's like a dream come true for you!  How excited are you!"  This is all people:  close friends (like Coop and Duh), new friends that I met last weekend, and people I barely know.  WOW - leads me to believe one thing "I talk about N waaaaaaaaay too much!"

But that said, it really makes me happy to see how excited others are for her to move out here and how excited they are for me :)  So I've put together some specific reasons I'm happy for N to be here:

10.  Weekly Wednesday date nights where we try new recipes that we've logged on a Google Spreadsheet (are you surprised?) and times when one of us will throw a pot on for the other, like our college days.

9.  Having a place that I know I can go to when G$ is being a brat (b/c I'm rarely one) or is watching insane amounts of sports

8.  Saving 35 cents in shipping a birthday card across the country, and simply being able to hand it over on the ACTUAL day with a cupcake

7.  Not having to binge drink when N's visiting with every bottle of wine I've saved to open with her.  Now we will just binge drink on our weekly dates ;)

6.  Having someone encourage me to return all the things I buy online and don't like when they arrive.  I kid you not, because of not returning online purchases, I probably have over $1000 worth of stuff I'll never use (that doesnt' include the 10 pairs of shoes I bought for my wedding and didn't wear)

5.  Back to feeling tall in comparison.  But N will go back to feeling not like a klutz.

4.  Being able to see outfits in person, rather than the sketchy iPhone/Droid pics we send back and forth, and are forever in our SMS history.

3.  Being able to have a capri collection, courtesy of N's pants that are "normal" legnth on her. That goes along with doubling my collection of accessories, handbags, clutches, etc. If only I could squeeze my feet into her shoes...

2.  Since we are both product whores, we tend to buy different things and then when we visit its like going into a store and trying ALL new things.  Now I won't have to go 6 months (and $400) later to try new products!

1.  Having a my best friend, who is also southern avocado head, less than a mile away from work to meet me at Target.

I'm about due for another bulleted list, no?

Things I'll miss about the RDU:

  • my house

  • lazing at the pool during the long, hot summers

  • low cost of living

  • always feeling young relative to my coworkers

  • 7.5 hour workdays in a chill environment

Things I'm looking forward to in the Bay Area:

  • being a stone's throw away from R (of course)

  • living in the city for 2 months

  • awesome food and wine

  • not having to wear heavy winter attire

  • having coworkers my own age

  • an exciting work environment

  • new places, new people, and a change!

Finally Spring/Summer in the Bay Area

Don't let the myth of sunny California fool you.  We've had the wettest winter yet - lots of rain and gray clouds.  Luckily, that means all the streams on my favorite hiking trails are running at full speed ahead - which is exciting, but I still hate the rain.

So - the sun is FINALLY shining bright and the weather forecast consistently reports temperatures in the high 70's / low 80's down in my area (which explains why I chose to live down there).

So now that it's shining, I'll share the top 4 things that bring are associated with spring/summer and bring a smile to my face:
Who can resist pretty strargazer lilies?
Mezze Platter on a Warm Summer Day
Kors Michael Kors Wedge Sandals

Denim Shift Dress from Gap

What makes you happiest about warm weather?

R's Corner: Things I Am in Love With

I know you're as excited as I am about this new feature of mine.  I'm fairly giddy about it. And I must admit, Pinterest has made it possible for me to do this because it makes it SO easy.  I think I'm going to pick themes.  This week, we're going to do my favorite theme:  MAKEUP!

New Feature: What R Love This Week

In an effort to blog more often, I think I'm going to start blogging weekly about things that I love.  Because Miss N sent me an invite to Pinterest, it makes it easy for me to collect all the things I love and post them.  The items will span a wide range of things - food, makeup, fashion, etc.

Stay tuned!

R's Friday Food Porn

This is a bit delayed, but I was sickie poos on Friday with food poisoning while on a business trip.  Super fun.  So on Friday, this is the food that would have looked like porn to me:
