R's 30 Before 30 - Update

I have an update of my 30 before 30.  You'll see some items have been crossed off, some have been replaced, and some have stayed the same.  I better get a cracking - I have less than two weeks left!

1. Be able to do 5 pull ups without the assist at the gym, if not 5, then at least 3.  If not a pull up, then a rollout.

2. Go to a movie theatre alone

3. Give money to a homeless man without judgement. This was easy to do in Europe.  I also gave a homeless man a ton of Chinese food without judgement...does this count as 2? :)

4. Learn to say no and not feel guilty  This one is hard, but I'm trying really hard and learning to say "no" to things/people who aren't as important.

5. Go to Europe.  Gone!

6. Spend 24 hours without my cell phones  Did this on Saturday the 18th.

7. Go on a roadtrip with no real destination in mind  Did this over Thanksgiving weekend, and ended up in Bodega Bay with a wine bar, 3 course meal - I really got out of my comfort zone ;)

8. Cook a 3 course indian meal that would make Mom proud.  Done!  I did a full three course meal with alcohol pairings.  I spent 12 hours making from scratch:  aloo chaat, chicken tikka, serrano chili chutney, lamb vindaloo, tamarind prawns, channa masala, rice, naan, and carrot halwa.

9. Spend 24 hours in silence.  Have not done this yet..it makes me nervous.

10. Go camping (preferably on a beach).  Camped in KAZK's backyard, and since I put together the tent, we decided it counts.

11. In an excercise class, stand in the front.  Went with Gravy Train to her zumba/belly dancing class and she made me stand up front next to her.  It wasn't as intimidating as I thought - it actually made the class easier when you can see the instructor!

12. Actually paying attention in a cooking class.  Did a cooking class with my coworkers and paid attention the entire time!

13. Plant an herb garden - Planted a basil...made pesto with it, kept it alive for a week...COMPLETE!

14. Go on a sailboat.  G said that the Windstar counted..

15. Kareoke alone.  Sang "Don't Stop Believin" during Miss N's 30th birthday celebration.

16. Volunteer at a soup kitchen at Thanksgiving.  Volunteered at the food bank Thanksgiving week - made G$ do it too!

17. Do something amazing for my husband - something that he'll remember forever.  I recently surprised G with a trip to Tucson to see our great friend open his first art gallery.  G said that this was the awesomest thing I've done and I can cross it off my list.

18. Take my parents on a trip.  MY parents won't let me do this as I'm their daughter and never should spend money on them.  So its been replaced with:  Walk across the Golden Gate Bridge.

19. Play one set of tennis (I must own a cool outfit). This will be replaced by Find my signature scent!  which I found...Chanel No 5 :)

20. Play a 18 hole golf course, 18 may not be realistic, so we'll even take 3 holes.

21. Go in a hot air balloon...no time for this, so it will be replaced by do either a 5k or 10k for charity.

22. Plan a vacation by closing my eyes and pointing at a domestic location.  This one isn't realistic at all and has been replaced by going to the dentist!

23. Go to DisneyLand...there's no time for this, so watch the Sound of Music.

24. Read one book a month and blog a review.  HA!  This hasn't even happened and its too late to catch up.  What I can do is promise to blog weekly (when I'm in town) until my 30th Birthday - and the posts will be something more than just pictures.

25. Visit the something from my childhood in Barcelona.  Done!

26. Go white water rafting.  This is replaced by conquering a fear, which I completed in Ibiza.

27. Learn to ride a bike!.  This is in progress...one lesson down!

28. Win a radio station contest.  Not realistic.  I have always always wanted to see U2.  I was unable to put it on this list as I didn't know if they were still touring - so its been on my general bucket list.  Well - they were touring and I saw them.  CHECK!  See U2 in concert

29. Take a wine making class

30. Become a US citizen

So to date, I've completed 21 things.

N's Beauty Must-Haves

Some of my staple products are the same ones R has reviewed (Neutrogena Naturals Fresh Cleansing + Makeup Remover, Clinique All About Eyes Rich, L'Oreal Telescopic Liquid Liner, Smashbox Primer), so I won't rehash those. However, as we all know, a girl needs to have a lot of tools. Here are some other items I can't live without.

1. Olay Definitely Color Recapture. A great moisturizer which gives a slight tint, has SPF, and really does help with the random dark spots that I unfortunately have.

2. MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation. I was devoted to Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation for years, but recently I decided to try one of Ree's staples. It's been great for summer since it goes on lightly and quickly, gives good coverage, and actually lasts all day (although that could be due to the primer underneath).

3. Crabtree & Evelyn Chocolate Cream Lip Swirl. This one is so random - I got it as a free gift when I purchased a bunch of hand cream last Christmas. It has just the right shade of tint, tastes yummy, and is really moisturizing without being sticky. I think it's only available during the holidays so I'm planning to stock up later this year!

4. Aveeno Active Naturals Shampoo and Conditioner. I've tried the Living Color line and the Nourish + Moisturize line. Rarely has my hair been so soft after washing.

5. Kerastase Shampoo and Conditioner. I haven't actually splurged on this - I acquired a few small bottles somehow and tried it out. The main thing I love is the smell; I'm so thankful to have long hair after I use this because I can catch lovely whiffs of it throughout the day. Maybe I should make sure I wash my hair with this before dates. :)
