Outfit of the Day - 3/31/2010

I'm going to try to post daily outfit pictures...I think this may help me use all clothes in my closet, and donate the ones I don't use.

I had a morning client meeting, so I wore:

Blazer:  Calvin Klein via Macy's
Shell:  Banana Republic
Skirt:  Calvin Klein via Macy's
Tights:  Express

Ricky Martin & A Moment ...

I know this may be a "duh" moment, but I held out hope...have been holding out hope since that day that N and I were in high school, and we saw HIM on the Grammy's, and YELLED in unison (yelled so loud that both our parents thought we had hurt ourselves).

Ricky Martin is not interested in me, nor N, nor any other female for that matter.

Sad am I.  A moment of silence to imagine how hot our children would have been, as well as how talented.

Sniff.

Top 5 Things I Need to Get Ready

We all have them...those few items we MUST have when getting ready - whether its a big night on the town, a lunch with the girls, a shopping excursion, or a nice dinner on the beach when on vacation.

Here are the top 5 things I can't live without and why:

5.  MUSIC!  From the days of getting ready to go to frat parties in college to trying to make myself look like a normal person for work, music blaring from our iPod speakers is a MUST!  From boy band pop, to the AWESOME britney spears, to hip hop - who cares, its F-A-B-O-L-O-U-S.  Holla Back.

4.  Black Eyeliner.  I feel like black eyeliner makes my eyes pop and look more awake.

2.  Dior Foundation in 50.  This stuff is AWESOME.  Its not too thick, but too sheer where it shows the insecurities most of us have with our skin.  Its a lightweight foundation that I put on with a brush, and it stays ALL day. LOVE LOVE LOVE.

3.  Rusk Wired.  Whether I need my hair straight (for anytime I'm not on vacation), I put a small dime sized amount thru my hair and then blow dry / flat iron straight.  This product is AWESOME and does get your hair straight.  Now when I'm on vacation, I run this product thru my hair while its wet and spray a salt spray, and then my hair relaxes into its natural waves and has a great beach look one can only obtain while on vacation.

1.  Awesome smelling, moisturing lotion.  My top three are:  Nivea, J&J Baby Lotion (yes the one in the pink bottle), and Amazing Grace.  The scents are soft enough to wear and not seem like you're THAT person who overpowers the room with her scent.  They moisturize SO well, whether you're in a dry winter climate, or after a full day of ocean/pool.

Those are mine, post yours!

5 Reasons I Heart Spring

The top 5 reasons I heart when its spring!!!  I'll keep warm weather out of this list, since its obvi a given.

5.  Peep toe shoes where you can show off your latest pedicure

4.  Sitting outside with a yummy margarita or white wine.  Or sitting outside after dinner with a glass of wine and a fire in the firepit table.

3.  Wearing fun colored dresses to work

2.  The good mood I seem to be in ALL THE TIME!

1.  Weekend adventures.  Now that its warmer outside, there can be more Sunday Fundays, where we can explore parks / have picnics / go wine tasting / etc.

Cute as a Button

I love these little buttons and think it'd be so fun to pick some out for each person I know.

I'd choose these for R:

And these for myself:
And we'd both get this one:

Are we turning into our parents...and is it inevitable?

Lately, I observe my interactions with G, and I start to wonder...are we turning into our parents?

I will share some examples:

Scenario 1:  R is on the phone, and G seems to think that's a fantastic time to talk to her about his hairstyle.

Scenario 2:  R is brushing her teeth, again G thinks its a great time to hold a deep conversation regarding the events in our relationship.

Scenario 3:  Even though G is the house chef, when R is gone - he seems to forget how to feed for himself and eats a meal that requires 8 minutes in a microwave.

Scenario 4:  If R leaves for a trip that is long enough, it requires a run to ensure G has enough clothes to last until she return.   He know has enough underclothes to fit a small nation

Enough of the scenarios.

I remember this happening with my parents and thinking this will never be me.  Looks like I was wrong.

At least the parents are cool...I guess it could be worse.

Yumm....Chai Recommendation

As a good Indian girl, I love a good cup of chai - especially if mom makes it and gives it to me with two pieces of toast.  When I visit home, I drink chai ALL the time (this also happens when I visit N, because she makes awesome chai as well).

Now that I'm a big girl, I make my own chai 2-3 times a week.  And its just not the same.  There's no awesome black mug I've used my entire life, there's no one making sure its just right - let's face it, its missing some love.

After searching high and low, I have found a chai that I think is ALMOST as awesome as mom's chai.  I definitely recommend it and am craving one RIGHT now.  Its at Jamba Juice.  It's their Original Spiced Chai Tea Latte.

Go...RUN, don't walk, and TRY it!

Red Carpet Review

You saw all the dresses, but here are the ones that made us cringe or turn green with envy...

Cameron Diaz

N: It's like she got to wear a lovely glass of bubbly. However, hi def TV was so not nice to her face during close-ups.

R:I agree with N on this one. I thought the dress was really pretty, just not on her. I also didn't like the red lipstick on her...She just seems sad since the breakup with JT.

Queen Latifah

N: LOVE. I still want to be her when I grow up.

R: The Queen! How could you not like someone titled "Queen."

Sarah Jessica Parker

N: I know some people loved it, but I expected better from her. Eh. Her hair was also strange.

R: I agree with Nisha. This did not meet my expectations. It has NO shape in the front at ALL. C'mon SJP - you can do better.

Miley Cyrus

N: Ew. What's up with the corset? Her posture was horrible, and her mom was not so classy either.

R: i thought this dress made her waist/hip area look funny.

Penelope Cruz

N: I hate the fact that she's always on the best-dressed lists, but I do love this one. The asymmetrical top and the drapery are so pretty.

R: This dress reminds me of a bridesmaid dress I tried on for A's wedding. I wonder if she's holding things in that floofy part in front.I don't get why you'd want a gap up top like that - I'd drop food in it.

Charlize Theron

N: I don't get it.

R: Charlize! That dress would be fine if it wasn't for the petals on her boobs. WTF?

Meryl Streep

N: I thought she looked classy and age-appropriate.

R: I agree. She looks classy and elegant. Meryl Streep reminds me of my first rated-R movie - "Death Becomes Her" - and then I remember how angry my mom was that I watched it behind her back...see I wasn't always a goody two shoes.

George Clooney

N: Argh, I couldn't find a pic of him alone. I know he needs a haircut, but at least he shaved. AND, did you hear that he sewed up the zipper on his girlfriend's not-so-exciting dress when it broke?!

R: That is the perfect man right there. He knows to sew...case closed.

Ryan Reynolds

N: YUM. Period.

R: After seeing all these fine gentlemen in tuxes, I've decided that we need to break them out more often. Man - he is SOOO hot!

Woohooo - N is coming to visit!

YAY!  N is coming to visit in early April!  SOOOO EXCITED AM I.

I wanted to post a tentative itinerary, so it could be open for comments.

Thursday:  N lands around 7, so we could go for dinner/drinks at Cascals.  Then we could just come back and chill.

Friday:  I have the day off.  We are thinking of going up to Point Reyes for some hiking, some Cowgirl Creamery, some exploring around.  We were debating between Big Sur and Point Reyes, but I think the promise of cheese pushed us to Point Reyes.

Saturday:  If its really nice weather, we want to drive up to Ridge and picnic up there.  After that, head up into SF and walk around Union Square (ahem, shop) and then do a group dinner at Andalu.  Andalu does a really inexpensive group menu ($20!) so it seems like a perfect idea.

WOOHOOOO!!!  SO EXCITED!!!

My friends and I would be awesome cat burglars...

So, here I was at 3:20 at work when Gravy Train sent me this article:  http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2010/03/03/BAJK1CA89H.DTL

Here is a snippet of our conversation that followed:
R: HOLY COW
Steal the bread pudding

Not the cash!

GT:  DUDE FOR REAL
And some of those passion fruit bellinis

Only do people that I'm close to value good food over cash.

Right Hand Rings...do or don't?

I typically only like to wear rings on my ring finger. Since I am married, I only have one finger I like for ring wearing.

N and I have been friends for almost 25 years (ok...we've known each other for 25, only been friends for like 15, po-ta-to, poh-tah-toe) and we've been trying to think of fun ideas for our upcoming thirtieth birthdays, and we thought of right hand rings.

However, now we're wondering if people will assume that N is off the market (which could deter her from sweeping George Clooney off of his feet, because he'll think she's already taken)...

What do you think - bad idea or fantastic idea (so fantastic that you want to be friends with us before your 30th birthday too)!? And with that, I'll leave you with a ring I'm currently obsessed with

Do the Balls of Your Feet Hurt?

Do you like to wear uncomfortable shoes that are too awesome to pass up?

Do you believe heels are necessary regardless of discomfort?

Do the balls of your feet hurt after walking around in high heels?

If so, then I have the product for you! KUSHYFOOT! I just discovered them yesterday (at Nordstrom Rack for $3 / pair). I purchased (and am wearing today) Low Cut Foot Cover. Long story short, they're sheer low cut socks, with extra padding on the balls of your feet! It makes walking around SO comfortable, and I feel like I could walk around in my heels all day without any sort of pain (which is a miracle considering I have on the pointiest shoes EVER).

I highly recommend them

Happy Monday!
