R's Happy Day Post: August 6

August 6th was the evening of Gravy Train's surprise party - small and intimate, we started with a private tasting at Press Club, then headed to Mexico DF for dinner, and concluded the night at their loft.

The best part of my day was seeing how truly surprised Gravy Train was.  I've never been involved in a surprise that worked out that well!

R's Happy Things: August 5

I have a Friday night routine that I love which incorporates food, wine and pajamas.  The last few weeks have been crazy and therefore, I have not been able to have my routine.  Well kids, this was finally the Friday night that I did.

My happy moment was sitting on the couch with G$ and N, with egg drop soup, a bottle of Cinnabar Malbec and a bottle of Downhill Barbera, and Food Network.

R's Happy Things: August 4

August 4th is Ms. Gravy Train's Birthday - so a belated happy birthday shout out to her!

I was so happy on Thursday to have a social event with some of my favorite co-workers.  It was fun to pre-game before the Giant's game and have a good time outside of the office.

Even better - I was able to crash at N's house and not have to worry about getting home.  I did have an incident where I thought she forgot about me, but we won't bring that up here :)

OOOPS - I've fallen behind for a bit.  I'll make it up today.

My happy moment on Wednesday (August 3) was coming in second place while playing Mexican Train Dominos with the in-laws and my husband.  My husband's cousin came in first place, and we took our revenge on my husband who was in last place :)

R's Happy Day Post: August 2

We all have qualities that we know we have, but sometimes we forget and it takes a kind word from a coworker/friend/stranger to make you remember.

But, yesterday's happy day moment was sitting outside at B Street and Vine with Gravy Train, N, and G$.  It was a great way to end the day - with multiple bottles of wine, a bruschetta sampler, a grilled cheese, and an antipasto plate.

R's Happy Day Post: August 1

YAY for August!  Well - first, let's freak out on how its August already.  Seriously, where did the time go (especially the summer since its been short lived here in the Bay Area). 

But my happy moment yesterday, was getting a note from Delta confirming that they took 12,500 miles from my account (50% off promotion they are running) and confirming my business class seat on the way back from Barcelona.  YIPPPEEEE!!

I'm getting so excited that I can barely contain myself.

Sunday was a great day.  It was beautiful weather with the right amount of "warmth" without it being disgusting hot.  G$ and I met up with an old coworker and his wife and went wine tasting thru some of our favorite vineyards 5 miles away from our house.

My happy moment of yesterday was sitting outside at Mountain Winery admiring the view (it was clear enough to see Stanford, HP Pavillion, etc) and having a chilled glass of Chardonnay (a non-buttery one, mind you).

R's Happy Day Post - July 30

I spent the day on Saturday doing something I've wanted to do for a long time - a FULL tourist day in SF.  Typically, the days in SF are spent doing "normal" things - shopping, spa, dinner, drinks, etc. 

My happy moment on Saturday was having sorbet for breakfast.  I had a lime mint sorbet on Saturday morning - it was SO refreshing.

Fridays are reason enough for it to be a happy day :)  This past Friday my happy moment was around getting an email from a client (my favorite one) complimenting me on my work, work ethic and energy. 

It's funny how what I consider to be my "job," clients see it as my going "above and beyond."

My favorite thing about Tuesday mornings is starting my morning calls at home with a cup of hot chai.  My happy moment yesterday was sitting down at 7:45, with my laptop and a mug of chai while I started my meeting with a large gaming company.  It really got me in the mood to kick a$$ for the rest of the day.

You know how the last 3 weeks of school used to feel before summer vacation? You'd have complete senioritis and you'd completely be checked out of your mundane day-to-day activities.  That's exactly how I feel at this moment.  I'm just waiting for August 17, where I'll be able to turn off my blackberry, get on my flight and fly over the pond for some much needed R&R.

Anyhoo, the happy moment of my day yesterday (Monday July 25) was:  having G$ deliver me a sugar free low calorie jello pudding with whipped cream on top in hopes to make my headache go away :)

It really is the simple things.

R's Happy Day: July 24

Happy things of the day.  Yesterday (Sunday - July 24) was a really good day.  Mainly because I was able to spend the day doing what I love (except for the laundry).  I watched

• TV with Miss N in the morning while G$ slept
• Then went shopping with Miss N to Santana Row and soaked up some ray
• G$ and I went to Cinnabar Wine Room to pick up our wines where we were given 2 Riedel wine glasses for being members for so long
• Downtown Saratoga had a car show so we soaked up more sun while looking at fancy cars
• Then headed to get some chips/salsa and margaritas (low cal even!)
• Laid on the couch and watched Suits, Keeping up with the Kardashians, and RHoNJ

A perfect day, which can be rare sometimes :)

R's Happy Day: July 23

Something about sitting by the pool, with a cold beer, yummy sandwich and good friends makes it a great Saturday.  My happy moment(s) involved sitting by the pool with good friends and just hanging out.  Its nice that summer has FINALLY decided to visit the Bay Area.

Happy Day Post: July 22

The happiest moment of my day on Friday (July 22) was receiving my notice that my upgrade had been approved on my Delta flight back to SFO!  It was really coincidental that my friend from college (who I had dinner with the night before) was also in first class on our way back.  We joked around about how "we've moved on up" from our college years.

I slept the entire way back (a 56 minute flight) in my big comfy chair.

R's Happy Day: July 21

I was travelling for work last week, so I'm a bit behind on "happy day" posts.  On Thursday (July 21), the day started off really terrible.  But that's not the point of these posts :)  So my happy moment that day was having sushi with a good friend from college who I haven't seen since my wedding.  It was so great to hang out and just pick up where we left off.

My happy moment of my day yesterday was being able to soak in the jacuzzi tub in my hotel room (which is on the executive floor) and read my magazine.  It was nice to simply relax and decompress.

If you're ever looking for a hotel in the LA area (location isnt' fantastic, but its 1 mile away from my client), I recommend the Miyako Hybrid Hotel.  The fitness center has Wii's for all the guests to use!

R's Happy Day : July 19

I can't post a picture of yesterday's happy moment because its confidential for work.  But - I will share :)

Last quarter, I was tasked with creating a new tool for our group and this tool had to be approved by majority of our management team.  So, in true "R" fashion - I overprepared, freaked out multiple times, reviewed prior to the meeting for days on end.  The meeting went well, and I received a check for having completed the box.

Fast forward to yesterday, when we had our quarterly tasks rolled out (for bonus reasons).  Slide 4 includes a "Use R's Toolkit!"  I was SO excited!  I later learned that my tool was unanimously chosen from the entire management team - which was also super exciting.

Its great to be able to share my excitement on the blog and with G$ and N - I tried to keep it muted while at the office.

Ok - that was my happy moment, especially since I LOVE seeing my name in print :)

R's Happy Day Posts: July 18

Yesterday was a good day.  I had a normal day of work (with minor work related annoyances) and then a "normal" evening.  My happy point of yesterday was dessert at dinner.  N and I walked along the water around 7:00 and ended up having dinner at Plant Cafe on Pier 3.  We had a normal dinner and ended up with a hazelnut roulade, which was a fancy word for "adult swiss cake roll"with two glasses of champers.  That was my happy moment, especially with the candied hazelnuts on top.

I did not take a picture and will try to take more pictures of my happy moments :)
